West Genesee has to acknowledge Coach and Teacher William Wormuth..I played Lax 1967-1968.Coach Wormuth brought lax to West Genesee and started the proud tradition. We'd drive to Cornwall for wooden and cat-gut sticks..Guys like Skip Walters,Tom Bogus,Jim Cutting,Ted Flessa, and me,John Polacek, who was a pioneer at The Univ. of Arizona,Lacrosse!!!Coach Wormuth once said,"The worst thing you can have are,Regrets"..Good thought..Lets recognize Wormuth as West Genesee's LAX pioneer..Nice website..Thanks, John Polacek

HI, I played for Baldwinsville from '86-'90. I am currently coaching in the Baltimore area and would like to find out if there are any coaches interested in a scrimage down here. We can travel a total distance of 600 miles for a game. I would love to set up a four or six team tournament somewhere half way. Please post this and see if there is any response. Thanks. I don't want to sound truly menacing but all of NY is going for Sec. 3. Sec 3 only took home 2 out of 3 titles this year. I'd like to say times are changing. The Dalers had WG they had them, but nerves I geuss. Yorktown brougt good reps from Sec 1 and should usher in a new age. The Somers squad was beat up real bad the whole season and it was there first title game. Lafayette was completely healthy. But regardless of whatever Sec 3 thinks or no matter how hard they practice they're done.

Where does this site get off not having a photo of lafayette lax in the state game when there is one of JD, who despite a great season and great effort did not win, not disrespect to JD but there was not a clean sweep by section 3 and it wasn't Lafayette fault, shame on the operators of this bias site. Great site, very well arranged, easy to navigate and full of info. It's been fun following the season. I just wish some of your contributors would be a little more prompt in submitting the information needed to keep it right up to date. Laxpower often has the news first - but on the other hand if this site is a one-man operation then fair play to you for doing as well as you do. Looking forward to following the State playoffs from "across the pond"!

Thanks for providing this great site dedicated to local lacrosse. It's nice to be able to get info and share opinions with people that appreciate the game and the role it plays in the developement of the students that participate in it. For years it's been very frustrating to have to rely upon the print media's "Oh by the way...in high school lacrosse action..." coverage buried on page seven or eight between Hair Club For Men ads and the classifieds. Now we have a place to go to find out what WE want to know about OUR kids and the programs we support! Can't thank you enough for this forum..keep up the good work to bring our part of the greatest game in the world...LACROSSE!!!!! Hello to whome ever this may concern, IM thrilled to be able to veiw a lax site that features NY Hs lacrosse students and their schools in which they attend I enjoy readding and looking at all that this site has to offer. Im a strong advocate of building the sports popularity and trying my best to see that it grows. The site is well done but I was wondering if u leave or update this site year round? I can understand everything is a money issue but I would really like to see this site grow as well as the sport and id like ur input on ur intensions for this site in the future and other input of the issues i brought up or any questions i had thanks for ur time, dan

Great stuff in here. I played midfield for Tucker Hall at Fayetteville-Manlius from 1964 (fm's first year) to 1967. Wish you had some news from those years. The sport has grown by leaps and bounds since then. Wish my kids could play but not much lacrosse here in Maine. - I'll check back often - Paul Farnham

To whom it may concern,

I am the producer and director of the new Lacrosse action video/documentary "UNDER THE HELMET". This movie will take you inside the heads of some of the finest players in the sport of yesterday and today. The tape will be packed with interviews and action from the likes of Charlie Lockwood to Paul Gait. The commercial for this project has aired to over 15 million homes on the FOX SPORTS NETWORK and is receiving a great deal of attention from the Lacrosse community. We are working around the clock to get word out about this film and would like to speak to you about how we can work together on this. Our intentions with this film are similar to what Arnold did with "PUMPING IRON" for bodybuilding. We intend to create greater public awareness and education through our state of the art presentation.

Please contact Brent Coye (President of UTH Prods.) @ (518) 583-3879 or by Email @underhelmetpro@aol.com. You can also visit the web site @http://www.under-the-helmet.com

Thank you,

Adam Warren

It was a scorcher!! Temp on the turf 102 degrees!! The Carthage Comets played a great game, kept right up with Garden City till the end. Garden City figured they had it easy, think again G.C.!! Carthage Comets have now made Upstate New York a real place in the minds of Long Islanders. That's right way upstate!! To all The Carthage Comets, your parents and friends are proud of you for all you worked hard for and rightly earned. This is GREAT site, my compliments to all involved. Secondly, CONGRATS TO THE CARTHAGE COMETS on their win last night over Canandaigua and best of LUCK Saturday against Garden City. I attended our end of season banquet last night for my son's Chenango Forks Blue Devil Lacrosse team and all those in attendence expressed their hope that Carthage wins the state title. Being at the game this past Tuesday in Corning, I was totally in awe of the level of skill that was exhibited by the Carthage team. Won't say any more, but keep up the impressive work on this site. Sincerely, Kevin Koehler, parent of #25 Mike Koehler, midfielder.

It is too bad that there is hardly any mention of the lacrosse defensive squads from any school. Other than Groundballs counted, there should be some new categories (let you decide on those!). Tis very hard to pass the attacks scoring when you are always at the wrong end of the field! Defense recongition is needed more in detail. Oh by the way, Carthage Comets on their way to the State Finals!! You can do it !!

Lately I have been really missing my high school days, and I came to this website to try to find some pictures of two of my favorite teams from 1998...and they weren't there!!! I know there were pictures before when I used to come here then! So, Mr. Webmaster, where can I find pictures of games that ESM and JD played in 1998? Could you e-mail me and let me know? As always the site is the best! :)

Congrats to Tom Hall on a great run. I played for him on the 1993 Section III champs F-M (19-2 One loss to west genny which we got back :-) and the second in the state championship). It's great to see a site that shows so much history and pride. If you leave here with anything, leave with this "LACROSSE IS GREAT UPSTATE" I am now the Coach at Ohio Wesleyan University and am very happy to see a site like this. Keep up the good work.

I think it is ridiculous on how teams like Huntinton, Yorktown, Massapequa, and Chaminade are ranked ahead of Port Washington High School. The Vikings Beat them all during the season, some by a considerable amount. huntington by 6, And Massapequa by 10.

I just spent a minute looking around. It's kind of amazing too see all this information. I played at FM '69-72. I look back on those years fondly. I think a lot of people have derived a great deal of satisfaction from their involvement with Lacrosse in the Central NY area. Congratulations!

Thanks for the being such an informative resource. Those of us in Rochester suffer from a severe "lax" of high school lacrosse coverage from the local media. You're are window to that arena.

As a West Genesee grad (1976) it was great to be able to follow the team. Thank you for putting forth the tremendous effort to maintain this site. I now live in Southern New Jersey where just about the only lacrosse is girl's, although that is changing. They are starting a program at the middle school level and have a LONG way to go until it reaches the level of Section 3. Thanks again for the great info, and I'll look for it next year.

What a great site! After a weekend of lacrosse at our 5th Annual Lacrosse Jamboree (for juniors run by our Westside Club, Golden, Colorado), and long discussions reminiscing with a friend about Upstate lax, imagine my surprise when he called a few days later and said he found our picture (1972 Section III champs) on the Internet.

I really enjoy having a site with stats, scores, and info so I can keep up with my old team. We don't have the level of competition here in the west yet, but Lax is growing great guns here as it should. I hope any of you old Hornets will look us up if you get to the Denver area. (303-467-3723)

Thanks, Charley Adams

I think this site is a great idea and I applaud your endeavor. I have sent you an e-mail in the Feedback section regarding my observations about the Past Seasons records (1960 to be exact). It would be neat if former players would feel inspired to post recollections of games and other experiences in a special "Memories" section. As a writer, I am easily inspired to do this, but I don't know what sort of activity you would get from the rest of those who discover this site. For example, I love to tell friends the story of how Watertown High School's first lacrosse teams in 1959-60 used old football helmets with wire masks welded on. For padding, we pulled basketball knee pads up above our elbows to protect our upper arms and fortunately, we were provided hockey gloves. When I went out for freshman lacrosse at Syracuse they issued us shoulder pads, and when I later saw my high school coach I asked him why we didn't know about such equipment before. "We couldn't afford them," he said, "so we didn't tell you about them."

I'm glad to see a web site devoted to Section III. It's the best way for me to keep up with my alma mater (Jamesville DeWitt - 1990). Maybe at some point you could to a featured player of the week or month. Have a picture and a brief description of statistics, scholastic achievements, and general interests.

I loved your website address because I'm a huge lax fan (college & high school). The high school I pay the most attention to is Skaneateles because it's my alma matar. The only thing I would like you to add is the section's girls lacrosse stats. Thanks, dennis

The carthage comets Varsity well dominate over all of the other teams. Coach V. knows what he is doing and he is going a great job at it. There defence and offence Carthage's JV is da bomb we are 4-1. Thats the only loss we will have.

Lived in Syracuse until 1989; now in Fremont California. Lacrosse is almost unknown out here, and no high schools in this area play. Except for transplanted easterners it's considered a game played primarily by women. Nice to have a way to stay in touch with the 'real world.'

This is a great page honoring Section III, but it's unbelievable that there is nothing for the girls. The sport is just as prestegious and growing even faster! The West Genesee womens' lax team also were section III champions last year. This web page needs to improve by following the girls game.
