1812 SHOOT OUTJULY 2000 RESULTS
This year's 1812 Shoot Out held in historic Sackets Harbor was another success. Sixty-four teams from around the Northeast played in the most competitive tournament yet. The High School Division drew the best teams from upstate New York. Fayetteville-Manlius, Orchard Park, Skaneateles, and Penn Yan made it to the "A" Division Final Four. F-M which dominated early round opponents continued to do so by beating Orchard Park 10-1. Skaneateles had a more difficult time as they played an exciting game with Penn Yan, squeezing out a 4-3 victory. Fayetteville-Manlius played an excellent second half to defeat Skaneateles in the Championship game 8-3. The "B" Division saw many one or two goal games throughout the morning games, which saw Binghamton, Valley (Syracuse), General Brown, and Jamesville-Dewitt advance to the semi-final games. Valley played a great game by defeating J-D 8-0, while Binghamton outlasted a scrappy General Brown team 8-5. Binghamton defeated Valley 8-7 in overtime to claim the Championship. The 14-Under Division saw some surprises throughout the day as Watertown won three one goal games to win the tournament over Oswego 7-6. Irondequoit defeated Webster in the consolation game for third place 3-2. The 12-Under Division had an international flavor to it, as several teams from Canada came down to participate. St. Catherine's from Ontario defeated Irondequoit in overtime to win the championship 5-4. Webster defeated Liverpool in the consolation game for third place 6-2. Five teams competed an exhibition tournament for the 10-Under Division. Webster went undefeated (4-0) to win the tournament. Canandaigua finished second with a 3-1 record. The tournament will be in its 8th year and has reached its full capacity, you should register early next spring to make sure you are in! Lets see some Long Island or Southern teams make the trip to compete in this great tournament. If interested contact Tom OBrien at 315-785-8370 or toobrien@sjeff-clarke.moric.org. |
